Riding Along the Detroit People Mover

This past weekend, my wife and I drove to Detroit, Michigan to spend time with relatives. It’s our first trip to the Motor City in probably 30 years. While there, we did a quick drive-by of the Motown Museum. We also chose what was, for us, a free amusement ride. Riding along the Detroit People Mover. This was a first for us. This nearly 3-mile fully automated and elevated people mover, going on its 37th year in operation, forms a loop around downtown, with brief stops at 13 stations and some sharp curves along the way. It was all I could do to hold my iPhone straight and steady against the DPM’s rear window as we rounded tight corners.

Fortunately, we boarded around sunset. I have to say, seeing the city this way is pretty special. I hope you enjoy it too while watching this timelapse video.
